Network-Based Training and Development

Leadership development has historically focused on improving formal leaders’ general knowledge, skills, and abilities. Yet, organizational leaders are increasingly realizing that only focusing on enhancing the human capital of formal leaders will not yield the expansion in individual and collective leadership capacity their organization needs to succeed. My colleagues and I are engaged in research projects aiming to:

  • Address employees' misconceptions and overcome hesitations to engage in professional networking.

  • Help women develop the networks they need to achieve equitable career success.

  • Guide employees making important career transitions.

  • Identify the most effective ways for leaders and teams to manage their internal and external network connections.
